Extend your open circuit technical diving journey downwards by taking the BSAC Explorer Mixed Gas Diver Course (60m) here in Lanzarote. Building on what you have already learnt as a Sports Mixed Gas Diver, you'll now learn how to safely plan and dive using normoxic trimix up to 60m using a twinset and two stage cylinders.

Here in Lanzarote we have the ideal locations for technical diving.
Shallows ideal for learning and practicing skills, sending up DSMBs and completing planned decompression stops.
Easy entry and exit points to the dive sites, always useful when diving with additional kit.
Plenty of easy access dive sites in the 30-50m range that are ideal for the course such as the Blue Hole pinnicles!

Who Can Take This Course?

The Explorer Mixed Gas Diver Course is the pefect onwards and downwards progession for Sports Mixed Gas (SMG) divers. You'll be introduced to the use of a travel gas to support normoxic trimix diving up to a maximum qualification depth of 60m using a twinset and two stage cylinders.
The Sports Mixed Gas Diver course and Explorer Mixed Gas Diver courses can be combined for those students that have suitable logged experience, are confident with the skills and comfortable diving with the equipment and diving at deeper depths. In other words you feel ready to take your diving down to the next level.

Course Requirements

Enrolment requirements and course content

Minimum 18 years old
Sport Mixed Gas Diver (50m) diver or equivalent certification from another recognised dive agency
60 logged dives minimum with 30 or more logged dives between 30-50m
Have dived to 30m or deeper in the 4 weeks leading up to the course
1 Theory sessions
1 Theory assessment
1 Dry session
1 Sheltered water training
1 Open water dive

What Will I Learn?

You'll learn to dive on a twinset with two stage cylinders, with normoxic trimix and of course you'll learn the theory and dive planning behind it all too.

You will learn:

- theory of mixed gas diving

- advanced diving physiology

- dive planning including gas choices, decompression obligations, gas redundancy and run times

- equipment configuration and set up

- practical diving techniques, including diving with 2 stage cylinders


Your diving adventure has only just begun!

What Will I be Able to Do?

As a qualified Explorer Mixed Gas Diver you can now dive buddied up with another Explorer Mixed Gas Diver, or equivalent or higher. You can plan and conduct open-circuit dives using trimix that contains a minimum of 18% Oxygen and a maximum of 35% Helium to a maximum depth of 60m.

What If I Need More Dives To Achieve The Standard?

You can complete more dives with us, time permitting, to achieve the standard. The cost of the additional dives is 150,00 € / dive. It excludes hire of equipment and gases for yourself and your instructor.

What Are The Next Steps?

After your course is completed you can come diving with us, gain some experince and see some of the deeper dive sites that this course opens up to you such as The Shrimp Cave. Other training options include take a CCR try dive or the Mod1 CCR course with us on an AP Inspirations!
